iKMC Film 5 – iKMC and Infection Prevention

Skin-to-skin contact is associated with a major reduction in infection rates in NICUs. This is good news because infection is a big killer of preterm babies, particularly in low-resource settings. Kangaroo care involves much less contact with health care workers, reducing dangers of cross-infection. It also helps babies to receive some immunity from their mothers.
