The primary purpose of incubators is to keep babies warm. But research has shown this can be done better in skin-to-skin contact with the mother, father or another relative. Preterm babies really struggle to maintain a constant temperature and hypothermia is a major cause of death. This film explains the evidence and the benefits of iKMC for better temperature control.
