This film, designed for a broad audience, shows how Mentor and Expert mothers help women who test HIV positive during pregnancy to overcome obstacles in health centres, at home and in their communities, to ensure their babies can be HIV free. The research found that structured and supervised peer support significantly boosts the numbers of pregnant women enrolled and retained on treatment. It shows how treatment as prevention works very well, but needs investment at a community level, with obvious implications as Africa moves towards a “Test and Treat” strategy for HIV. The film was first show at the IAS Paris conference in 2017.
