A separate question of the ARROW Trial was whether children should continue taking co-trimoxazole as prophylaxis against opportunistic infections, even after their immune systems and CD4 have recovered on HIV treatment. The answer was yes..unequivocally. The cheap and easily available anti-biotic carried on saving lives and should be given to children over the long term.
