The reciprocating piston diaphragm is one of the components that wear out most often within the suction pump assembly. A damaged or worn out diaphragm would result in poor or no suction at all.
The first thing to do is to remove the whole pump assembly from the housing. The piston and its casing are on one side of the electrical pump. They are held in place by two large bolts.
The piston itself is attached to a road where it is held in place by a bolt. Next, take out the two large bolts. You can use pliers or spanners to do this.
Once the bolts are out, you need to loosen the bolt on the piston rod. This allows the piston and its casing to slide easily away from the pump.
Now you can gently remove the piston from the piston casing. Remove the screw on the top of the piston with a Phillips screwdriver. This allows you to take out the diaphragm and inspect it for any damage. If in doubt, replace it with a new one.
Put back the screw in the cover, making sure the diaphragm is in the centre. Pushing the piston back into the casing needs to be done delicately. You need to use a circular motion at an angle like this so as not to damage the new diaphragm.
Once it’s in, you can reattach the piston to the road and tighten the bot. It should go around smoothly like this.
Next, align the casing with the bolt holes and put back the bolts. Now you can put the whole pump assembly back into the machine.
